PUBLIC SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

In Maryland, if federal and State observances of a holiday fall on different days, each local board of education determines on which date the holiday will be observed in its public schools (Code Education Article, sec. 7-103).

January 1	New Year's Day
April 10 - 13	Good Friday through the day after Easter
May 30	Memorial Day
September 15	Primary Election Day*
November 3	General Election Day*
November 11	Veterans' Day
November 26 (fourth Thursday)	Thanksgiving Day
December 25 - 31	Christmas Day through end of year

*On primary and general election days, public schools in the following counties may remain open: Calvert, Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Talbot, and Worcester counties (Code Education Article, sec. 7-103 (c) (4)).
